Weekend Reading: 100 Email Marketing Examples, Search is Mobile and Conversions are Next

It’s been another busy week here at Movable Ink! In addition to getting the recording up for our webinar, “How to Build Next Generation Responsive Emails,” we released our new research, the Q1 2015 US Consumer Device Preference Report.

We also hosted a new webinar, “How to Bounce-Proof Your Marketing,” with our friends over at BounceExchange and discussed in depth why email ROI beats social media ROI by a huge margin.

In April, we talked a lot about responsive emails and it seems like it was the time to do it – Google just announced that more searches are happening on mobile than desktops. Learn about that more this weekend:

1. Top 100 Email Marketing Campaigns of 2014

CampaignMonitor put together a comprehensive list of the top 100 email marketing campaigns of 2014 and divided them into five different categories: Design Leaders, Top Performers, Nonconformists, All-Stars, and Optimization Experts.

From creative design to emails optimized for mobile, CampaignMonitor’s collection is a great showcase of the wide variety of tactics and styles of email marketing campaigns today.

2. Search Goes Mobile-First.

A few weeks ago, brands were scrambling to adopt to Google’s new mobile algorithm changes. Turns out, the algorithm was put in place for good reason – for the first time ever, mobile searches outnumber searches performed on desktops in ten different countries, including the US and Japan.

The mobile trifecta is almost complete. Our Q1 2015 research shows that 67% of emails are opened on mobile devices. And mobile conversions are catching up too, slowly but surely.

3. 31% of Conversions from Email are from iPhones.

In our latest research report, we discovered that mobile conversions are happening from email, especially on iPhones. While the sample size was small (approximately 60,000 emails), this is still a sign that consumers are becoming more open to the idea of converting on smaller screens.

We also took a look at email open rates by device, how different industries read their emails, how long consumers look at emails, and more.
